Langston Funeral Home was established in 1966, by Mrs. Charlie Jane Mathis Langston & Mr. Charlie Edwards Matthews. The original name was Langston & Son Funeral Home, both mother and son duo were licensed funeral directors. In 2011, the funeral Home changed to DBA Langston and Brown Funeral Service. This small family owned business has been in the same location for over 56 years and still proudly serves the community. Mrs. Charlie Jane Mathis Langston was an educator of 36 years and the first African American female to obtain a Funeral Director's License in Marion County. She passed away in 2006 at the age of 103 years old. Mr. Charlie Edward Matthews was a licensed funeral director and entrepreneur, he passed away in 2020. The legacy of Langston Funeral Home lives on with the family. We are a small firm with a huge heart and service of compassion, care and concern for the families we serve.
